MARY KAY

So as you know I am an Influenster member and as such get the opportunity to  try new and exciting products. Well recently I was sent a complimentary box from Mary Kay with some interesting products to try out. They were in this pretty pink and black box and look at the greeting ...

Cute huh! Anyway one of the products in this box was the Mary Kay cream eye color in the color "violet storm"

Prior to receiving this product I had never tried a cream color and felt a little skeptical about how the color would adhere to the skin but found myself impressed with how it swatched

It feels smooth almost like a "balmified"(completely made up word) eyeshadow

so I tried it out on my eye to see if this color would translate similarly and heres how it went..

I applied the cream eyeshadow without putting on any primer and  it looked pretty good. I even felt like it was pretty enough to wear alone with a simple winged liner. The application was simple all I did was sweep the color across the lid. This color was vibrant enough to be worn alone but could also be used as a base.

M.A.C Tangerine Dream

so i got two lipsticks from one of M.A.C's most recent collections called "all about orange"...so far I only got the Tangerine dream. The collection was released online last thursday but will be in store this thursday the 6/06/13 but decided to post on it since I couldn't any pictures of women of color wearing this lipstick when I wanted to see how it would look... so here we go

on my lips 

 its not great but it isn't bad ..I like the color though its not a bold orange. If your lips are pigmented you'll have to apply more than one coat to get  good color since its a bit sheer on the lips..and by the way the finish of this is "lustre" making it shiny kind of like a lip balm would be.

APRIL SAMPLE SOCIETY BOX 2013

So April is here and along with the sun and the beginning of beautiful flowers comes this months Sample Society box. This one is mostly skin care related and I'm pretty content with the products..so let me give you run down of what I got:

(this is a tiny sample, the texture of this is interesting it feels like a primer)

Although its a sunscreen its flesh colored

this is after rubbing it in

leaves NO white cast whatsoever! amazing.

I'm most excited about the sunscreen, its hard to find a light wait sunscreen above SPF 15  and I can't wait to see how the makeup remover works. 

This was another successful box!

NEUTROGENA NORWEGIAN HAND CREAM

I'm pretty impressed with Neutrogena's Norwegian Hand Cream, this moisturizer is extremely effective at getting your hands soft without getting your hands all greasy. The consistency is sort of balm like

This hand cream comes in original and fragrance free (which is the one I have). How much is it you ask? its only $4.99 for a 2oz tube which you can pretty much pick this up at any major drugstore.

While we're on the hand topic I figured I'd show you my manicure routine.

1) For every basic manicure you want to start with clean and neatly shaped nails. File your nails and push back your cuticles as necessary.

2)After buffing and cutting my nails my very next step would be to apply my base coat.

this isn't specifically meant as as a base coat but I've found that it works great to smooth out my nails.

3) My next step is applying my nail color.. I decided to pick something pink and Revlon's temptress seemed fitting. 

4) Apply top coat 

I absolutely love this top coat, its less then five bucks and fabulous

  THEN 

5) MOISTURIZE YOUR HANDS WITH

NEUTROGENA NORWEGIAN FORMULA 

HAND CREAM

AND WE ARE DONE!!!!!

FEBRUARY SAMPLE SOCIETY BOX 2013!!!!

My sample society box is here, up until recently I didnt realize that the boxes varied depending on the letter you were assigned for the month, this month I was given "box A".....This box is definitely not my favorite but here we go:

this cream has a weird texture as you can see, its really watery

(you can see that in the box so I didn't add an extra pic, I'm not happy about this one)
